ELIGIBILITY CRITERION
From the identified 31 institutes (21 Engineering and 10
Management), the top twenty rank holder students will be eligible to
apply for the scholarship.
Management Institutes
1. Top 20 students from 1st year batch based
on entrance score.
2. Top 20 students from 2nd year batch based on performance score
in the 1st year.
Engineering Institutes
- 1. 2 toppers from each batch from the following streams for
all 4 years.
- Civil Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Metallurgical Engineering
2. Top 12 students from each batch (any specialization or
stream) for all 4 years.
For instance
1. Mr. Kumar could be one of the top 2 students from Civil
Engineering and also be the one of the top 12 students for his
batch. In this case, his name should appear only under the 1st
category. For the 2nd category, another top student from his batch
should be identified to meet the number of 12.
2. Mr. Kumar could be one of the top 2 students from mechanical
engineering but not be one of the top 12 students for his batch. In
this case, his name should appear once in the list (as a part of
category 1)
3. Mr. Kumar could be 1 of the top 12 students in his batch but not
belong to civil, electrical, mechanical or metallurgical streams. In
this case, his name should appear once in the list ( as a part of
category 2)
Dates: Last date for
sending nomination based on eligibility criteria August 7th 2009
Special conditions:
- In case two students from a particular batch hold the same
rank, both will be eligible for stage 2: the online test.
- If an eligible student is already getting another
scholarship/financial aid, she/he would still be eligible to
apply for OPJEMS

» STAGE
1(a) and 1(b): ONLINE TEST
All the students who are nominated based on the eligibility
criteria will be required to undertake an online test where
Section 1(a): will be a behavioral test with 60-70 multiple
choice questions that aim to assess leadership behaviors
Section 1(b): will be an application blank containing approx
6 open ended questions aiming to seek data on personality factors
Scores on section 1(a) will be used to "shortlist" or "reject"
students for the interview stage. Section 1(b) will be used as "probe"
for the interview process. There will be no elimination basis the
responses given in section 1(b). For students short listed
based on section 1(a), section 1(b) will be printed and shared with
the OPJEMS interviewers.
The online test will be held at respective campuses by our
invigilators. In order to ensure smooth implementation, the students
will be given an option to take this test in paper-pencil format (
in case the institute/student faces server or other IT issues that
hamper the effective functioning of the online platform)
Date for the test:
September 6th, 2009
Duration: Section 1: 30 minutes
Section 1(a): 30 - 40 minutes
Section 1(b): 30 minutes
The top 2 students (based on stage 1(a)) of each academic year of
each institution would be short listed for the next stage.
Special conditions:
- In case a student is unable to take the test, due to medical
/ any other exigency, she/he would not be eligible to move to
the next stage.
- Online technical support would be provided during the course
of the online test.

» STAGE 2:
PERSONAL INTERVIEW
The students short listed from Stage 1(a) would undergo an
interview with a panel of interviewers. The interview will focus on
the personality factors and some probes from the online test section
1(a).
Interviews would be conducted through web/video conferencing. The
interviews will be taken via web conferencing (or telephonically,
where web conferencing is unavailable).
The final selection for OPJEMS scholars will be done by giving
50:50 weightage to interview +application blank (i.e. performance on
the personality factors) and the online test section 1(a)( i.e.
performance on the leadership behaviors)

To be announced by the end of September 2009
Special conditions:
The time/date allotted for interview would be final. Any request
for a change would not be entertained.
